general questions
Minoma’s products are lovingly formulated in small batches in our Surrey countryside lab.
Mindfulness can help with reducing stress and support physical, emotional, and mental health challenges in our modern world. Stress is an underlying factor in many of today’s diseases and health concerns. By incorporating short, mindful practices into our daily routines, we can support and regulate our nervous system, enabling us to cope better with life’s experiences. In a world driven by constant doing, mindfulness offers a restorative space for simply being.
INGREDIENTS
Our ingredients are 100% biodegradable, however our products are not intended for direct discharge into waterways. Please take care, disposing responsibly via the sink, where they can be appropriately treated.
In our opinion, we do not use toxic ingredients. Our formulation philosophy is to be as clean as possible while still ensuring that every product is effective. We also recognise that the meaning of “toxic” can vary from person to person. To simplify this conversation and provide clarity, we have chosen to use the Ecocert and COSMOS standards as a reference when selecting ingredients, with the aim of choosing ingredients that are consistent with their approach to natural and responsible formulation.
We consider more than 99% of the ingredients we use (by weight) to be of natural origin, with the remaining ingredients being of synthetic origin, in accordance with the definitions and classifications used by the COSMOS and Ecocert standards. To be safe our products contain preservatives (less than 1%), and these are of synthetic origin, which have been approved by these standards for use in natural formulations.
Products that contain water generally require preservatives to protect against harmful bacteria, mould, and fungi. In certain cases, a preservative may not be necessary—such as when a formula has a very high pH (above 10) or a very low pH (below 3)—as these environments are naturally inhospitable to microbial growth.
For details on our ingredients, please refer to our Formulation Philosophy.
Minoma’s products are suitable for vegans.
We have never tested our products on animals. In fact, animal testing for household products has been banned in the UK since 2015.
Minoma’s products are fragranced exclusively with pure essential oils, offering a beautiful natural aroma as you clean and perhaps engage in a mindfulness practice. These gentle scents blend beautifully into the ambience of your home.
Many synthetic fragrances contain phthalates. These are a group of chemicals commonly used to make fragrances last for hours, creating the familiar “clean” scent in homes and laundry products. They have been suggested to be linked to potential health concerns, which is why we choose not to use them.
We set the pH of each product to maximize the ingredients’ performance while effectively targeting the specific type of surface to be cleaned. The pH of our products is between ph 3.8-6.5 which is formulated to be gentle on both the skin and surfaces when used as directed. However, we recommend wearing rubber gloves when using our products, as ingredients such as ethanol and essential oils may irritate skin. In addition, the optimal pH for the skin’s acid mantle – the protective film covering your skin, is said to be between pH 4.5-5.5.
To view the approximate pH of a specific product, please visit the product’s shop page. Scroll down to the “Product Information” section, and expand the bullet point “How to Use”. Please note the pH of the concentrated solution will change once diluted with water, and the final pH may vary slightly depending on the type of water used, such as tap water versus distilled or purified water.

PACKAGING
The most common problem associated with pumps/triggers not working as they should is most likely product residue buildup. In these cases, we recommend soaking the pump or trigger in warm water with a small amount of citric acid or lemon juice.
Any other issues please reach out to us via our Contact Us form and we are happy to assist.
After careful consideration, we chose glass for several important reasons. It is reusable and can be reused repeatedly without losing quality or functionality, and it is also fully recyclable. Glass is also safer for personal health, as it does not contain Bisphenol A (BPA) or phthalates, which are often found in plastics. While aluminium bottles may appear to be a sustainable alternative, they often contain an internal plastic lining to prevent metal leaching into the product. In addition, we believe glass offers a clean, stylish look that adds aesthetic value to the home.
It is true that glass can break, which is one of its natural drawbacks. However, our bottles are designed to withstand drops from waist height onto most surfaces. That said, breakage may still occur depending on the surface or drop height. We therefore recommend handling them with care — after all, they are made of glass.
RECYCLING
Below is a breakdown of the materials used in our packaging, along with guidance on how to recycle them. Please note that recycling practices vary by local authority, so we recommend checking directly with yours for the most accurate instructions—such as whether bottle caps should be removed before recycling. A good start is the UK government’s webpage on recycling. There is also some guidance from RecycleNow on how to best recycle.
− 500ml amber glass “Forever bottle”, made in the UK with recycled content. ⇒ Glass recycling facility/bottle bank/recycling bin.
− Trigger spray head, made from approx. 60% recycled plastics (PP, PE and silicon) ⇒ Check with your local authority if they can recycle items made from mixed plastics.
− Dispenser pump, made from 100% PP plastic ⇒ It is recyclable, but please check with your local authority whether Class 5 plastic is accepted in your recycling bin or at your local recycling centre.
− 50ml Refill concentrate bottle, made from amber glass ⇒ Glass recycling facility/bottle bank/recycling bin.
− Cap for the Refill concentrate bottle, made from recycled aluminium in the UK. ⇒ Recycle at your local recycling centre, or leave it on the bottle, as it is commonly separated during the recycling process.
– 500ml Refill pouch, made from kraft paper with an inner PE plastic lining and cap ⇒ Not recyclable.
− Product label, made from 99% recycled PP plastic and printed in the UK. ⇒ Usually best left on, as it is typically removed during the recycling process.
− Mailing boxes, made from durable recycled cardboard and 100% plastic free. ⇒ Recycling facility/recycling bin.
− Packing peanuts, water soluble so please dispose of them by adding water and flush them down the drain or reuse them.
Choosing the right packaging is a complex task, with many variables to consider. Our goal is to strike a balance between minimizing environmental impact and maintaining the high quality needed for optimal performance.
SAFETY AND GUIDELINES
We create our products to be as clean as possible, while the majority of our ingredients are of natural origin these can potentially still trigger physical, health and environmental hazards. For example, even small amounts of essential oils and preservatives can cause irritation or allergic reactions in some sensitive individuals.
In the UK, ingredients used in cleaning products are regulated under the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and the Detergents Regulation (EC) No 648/2004. In order to inform consumers on how to handle products safely these regulations require labels to disclose a certain mix of hazard symbols, statements and warnings related to the ingredients used in a product.
For our concentrated products even stricter symbols/statements/warnings are required, once diluted with water these may be reduced or eliminated entirely.
Our products should always be kept out of reach of children and pets. Most of our products contain small amounts of essential oils, which some animals or sensitive individuals may have a reaction to. All essential oil blends are well within the legal safety limit (<1%).
For details on allergens, please check the product label or refer to the section on essential oils via this link. If using our products around sensitive people or animals, use with caution, and consult a doctor or vet if you’re unsure.
For maximum skin safety, wearing protecting gloves is recommended. While our products are formulated to be gentle on the skin, they are cleaning products containing ingredients that remove grease, grime, and oils, which can affect the skin’s acid mantle and its natural microflora.
Our products have a pH between approximately 3.8 and 6.5, which is generally safe, but skin naturally has a pH of 4.5–5.5. Additionally, scented products contain pure essential oils, which may trigger allergic reactions in some sensitive individuals.
Please store products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, children, and pets. Always close triggers and pumps after use to prevent leaks, evaporation, and product buildup.
